Focus Area: Education
Project: Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Program
Commitment By: Court of the Crown Prince, Kingdom of Bahrain
Value: $32 million
Required Funding: $24.1 million


Objective: Providing the opportunity for Bahrain’s most talented and outstanding youth to study at top international universities and colleges.
Commitment: Pledging to raise $32 million over the next ten years to finance the education of young Bahrainis to enable them to earn undergraduate and graduate degrees through the Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Program.
Background: His Highness Shaikh Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa the Crown Prince and Commander-in-Chief of the Kingdom of Bahrain initiated the Crown Prince's International Scholarship Program (CPISP) in 1999. The vision of the CPISP is to educate selected Bahraini students to take leadership roles in the private and public sectors. These future leaders would provide Bahrain with Knowledge and expertise needed for Bahrain to continue to grow, to prosper and to compete in the new millennium. The CPISP provides fully funded university scholarship that includes all fees, travel, and living expenses to candidates who can prove that they have the ability, initiative, strength and commitment to succeed as leaders of tomorrow.

Partnership Opportunity: Seeking funding from interested parties which would contribute to the continued success of the Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Program. We wish to extend our scholarship remit from just undergraduate courses to now include postgraduate courses also.
Update:
December 2005:
Selected 10 scholars for the academic year 2006-2007.

January 2006:
Development of the Endowment Fund for Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Program (CPISP) began.

February 2006:
Meetings with CEOs of possible sponsors for the Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Fund took place.

March 2006:
Collected the first four major donations from large Bahrain based companies totaling $7.9 million so far.
