Leaders’ Guide to Sustainable Globalization |
| Commitment By: |
Booz Allen Hamilton |
Objective: To provide practical guidance to global leaders on the topic of beneficial and sustainable globalization.
Commitment: To author and publish A Leader’s Guide to Sustainable Globalization, a book for which President Clinton was interviewed. To establish an ongoing dialogue among leaders in the public, private and non-governmental sectors on the same topic.
Background: Our book posits that globalization is neither positive nor negative; rather, it is how the interplay of globalization’s key constituencies– government, the private sector, and the non-governmental sector—is managed that dictates public opinion. Our book will introduce the new concept of “mega communities” to explain how each sector of society can maximize its success in this interaction. The term describes an economic sphere in which businesses, NGOs, and governments pursue their respective interests in ways that optimize the interests of the community at large while creating a sustainable environment. In this model of sustainable globalization, leaders recast their spheres of influence and adjust their actions such that key challenges are effectively addressed.
Four Booz Allen Hamilton partners are authoring this book:
• Mark Gerencser, Senior Partner leading our public sector business based in Washington, DC
• Chris Kelly, Partner in our public sector business based in Washington, DC
• Fernando Napolitano, Partner in our private sector business based in Italy
• Reggie Van Lee, Senior Partner leading our not-for-profit business based in NY
Our book intends to distinguish past attempts at globalization from what is required for globalization to be beneficial and sustainable: a balanced partnership among the public sector, private sector, and the civil society/NGO sector.
Moreover, our book will provide practical guidance to global leaders across all three sectors on how to drive sustainable globalization. The content draws on insights from nearly 100 CEOs, heads of state, and NGO leaders across the globe—including President Clinton—who we have interviewed for this book.
