S. Daniel Abraham commits to support the Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam community, aimed at demonstrating the possibility of Jews and Palestinians living together peacefully and equally in a community based on mutual acceptance, respect and cooperation. This is one of Mr. Abraham's several Clinton Global Initiative commitments aimed at promoting religious reconciliation and in particular a lasting Israeli-Palestinian peace.
Partner Opportunities:  Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam is a community of Jewish-Israelis and Palestinians committed to promote religious reconciliation and in particular a lasting Israeli-Palestinian through demonstrating the possibility of Jews and Palestinian living together equally and peacefully and a commitment to mutual understanding, respect, dialogue and cooperation. US-Africa Financial Fellows Exchange Program, a year-long exchange to enhance the expertise of young bankers from Africa and the United States in the financial, capital markets, corporate finance and economic policy areas.

Ashoka commits to identify and support 260 new social entrepreneurs around the world, many working on innovative solutions to eliminate poverty, promote environmental sustainability and halt climate change, improve governance and encourage peace, tolerance and religious understanding, through a $50 million fund-raising campaign.

Michael (Mickey) Bergman has committed to help alleviate the suffering of the victims of the genocide in Darfur and the impacted population in Chad, by mobilizing the North American Jewish Community and raising $50,000 for the International Medical Corps’ operations in the area.
Partner Opportunities:  To date, $14,000 has been raised, and additional funding is being sought. The book produced by Mickey Bergman and Photographer Richard Levine as a result of the trip to the refugee camps in Chad is available for purchase to support additional funding.

Mr. Bernard L. Schwartz, through the Bernard and Irene Schwartz Foundation, Inc., commits to give $350,000 to the Educational Broadcasting Corporation (Thirteen/WNET) to produce a ninety-minute documentary film, Back to School, for national broadcast on September 5, 2006 through the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). This documentary and its associated activities examine the inequities of global education and raise change-effecting awareness of the crucial social and economic benefits of educating children—especially girls—worldwide.
Partner Opportunities:  Back to School seeks to foster an educated citizenry, raising awareness about global education among all Americans—especially in the policy-making community—through screenings, panel discussions and other public-engagement events. The project requires an additional $400,000 to carry out a supplemental public-engagement campaign including targeted advertising and promotion efforts to ensure maximum attention for the Back to School documentary film and the Time for School longitudinal series.

Biodiesel for Katrina: Restoration and Climate Mitigation, a project sponsored by numerous entities including biodiesel America, will make an initial investment of $50,000 leading up to $1 million in services. They will assist in the immediate recovery of South Louisiana oil producing and fishing towns; provide the first public data and photographs on the 36 oil derricks that are currently damaged and facilitate long term sustainability recovery of the damaged areas.

The Business Civic Leadership Center (BCLC), a program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, has launched a new initiative to increase awareness and enhance the effectiveness of the private sector’s role in international aid. By creating an information clearinghouse for companies that seek to invest in international aid and long-term development projects, the BCLC is leveraging the private sector’s ability to support new markets and spur sustainable development.

In support of Millennium Promise’s goal to implement 100 Millennium Villages, the Case Foundation will sponsor one Millennium Village in Western Kenya’s Siaya District with a financial commitment of $300,000 a year for five years, a total commitment of $1.5 million dollars.

Catholic Relief Services has committed to strengthen the capacity to promote religious peace-building in Africa, by providing financial support in the order of $400,000 over two years, and technical support to The Denis Hurley Peace Institute, which has as its objective the building and promoting of just peace in sub-Saharan Africa.

The meeting has helped develop innovative financial mechanisms to allow private capital to flow to clean energy technologies and projects.

CGNET Services International Inc. and its sister non-profit SITIA have committed to provide IT services to organizations working to advance sustainable development in Africa and Asia. Using the services offered by CGNET, small, mobile groups of development workers will be able to coordinate their actions in the field and “on the fly.” As development workers gain increased access to technology, they will be able to provide improved health and relief services to rural and developing communities – particularly in times of natural disaster.
Partner Opportunities:  We seek partners who work in sustainable development, particularly in rural Africa and Asia, where we may contribute our specialized skills and resources. New satellite internet methods are being introduced in the first half of 2006 around the world that will enable new ways of integrating international development efforts. We particularly anticipate important applications in rural health care and disease detection (for example, early warning of flu or other disease outbreaks). We would welcome cooperative projects with actors in this area.

Cisco Systems, Inc. and the Sapling Foundation will match dollar for dollar contributions to Acumen Fund up to a total of $1 million, during the Clinton Global Initiative. The Acumen fund will be used to deliver clean water, health and housing to the poor through investments in innovative, social entrepreneurs.

The Climate Group commits to engage and recruit corporate members over the next two years, and to use The Climate Group's tiered membership and support services to assist each corporation in defining and achieving measurable goals for preventing climate change.
Partner Opportunities:  All of The Climate Group’s relationships with corporate members are collaborative. First and foremost, we welcome queries from corporate leaders seeking to join or form leadership groups or to consider becoming members. Based on the growing international consensus on key elements of the development agenda and the recent commitment to large increases in resource transfers to the developing world, Dalberg Global Development Advisors has designed, and is in the process of convening a High Level Commission on Capacity for Program Delivery, which aims to systematically address a number of key implementation issues that continue to hamper the ability of the development sector to scale up effective interventions.
Partner Opportunities:  Dalberg is seeking total external funding of $850,000 to support the work of the Task Force in addition to the $300,000 which has been committed internally by Dalberg (including $50,000 in kind by the Executive Director of the Task Force, Nissim Ezekiel). The feeling is that it would be most productive if the amount can be raised through contributions of up to $200,000 each from three or four core funders. As the work of the Task Force will result in tangible scalable initiatives, contributions can appropriately be routed through The Global Development Incubator, an independent non-profit organization with 501 c3 status.

The Eli & Edythe L. Broad Foundation commits $1 million over the next four years to finance the UFT Charter School, the first union-run charter school in the U.S. The Broad foundation identified UFT Charter School as an opportunity to further endorse its commitment to transform public education and improve K-12 urban facilities by equipping schools with modern tools. This general support grant will go into the school’s operating budget to cover start-up costs.
Partner Opportunities:  The total needed to close the 10 percent gap between charter school and public school funding is $3.4 million. Following Mr. Broad’s generous donation, the UFT is working to raise the additional $2.4 million needed for the regular school day programs.

EMBARQ and the municipality of Porto Alegre will equally fund a bus rapid transit system for the city of Porto Alegre. EMBARQ will provide advice and tools for project management, studies and the basic design of the project. This partnership was established to improve the quality and efficiency of public transportation through the adoption of cleaner fuels, technology and the promotion of the use of non-motorized transport.

FXB will create 20 new low-cost, sustainable community-based Modules in Uganda and Rwanda to help orphans, families, and communities combat the effects of AIDS. Georgetown University Law Center, through its Human Rights Institute, will conduct a study of human rights guarantees in constitutions of predominantly Muslim countries, with a special focus on the treatment of freedom of religion or belief and the ramifications in practice of the status of Islam in constitutional law.

By using recycled wood from the affected areas for the manufacture and sale of limited-edition guitars, Gibson Guitar and partners have developed this $2 million commitment to help music continue to thrive in an area widely known for its tremendous contribution to global music and culture.

The Business Alliance for Food Fortification (BAFF) is a new joint partnership between the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and private sector businesses, aimed at expanding coverage, sharing best practices, developing common approaches to food fortification, and identifying resources and mechanisms to finance new fortification initiatives that will benefit the poor and at-risk populations around the world.
Partner Opportunities:  The BAFF is continuously seeking to expand its membership base, and have additional companies join in on the effort of food fortification for the world’s poor. The Global Catalyst Foundation, in partnership with The Skoll Foundation, is sponsoring The Gandhi Project through a donation of $600,000 and in-kind administrative support. The goal of the Gandhi Project is to engender peaceful and positive social change through the application of Gandhi’s philosophy of personal, social, and economic empowerment through community screenings of the Arabic version of the film, Gandhi, in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Hebron, the Qalandia checkpoint, and throughout the Palestinian territories.

The Global Media Project is a two year initiative of the Global Exchange to develop an international journalism code of ethics standard. The code will be developed by participants in the Global Exchange’s training program that will focus on the importance and role of the media in today’s global village. The organization seeks $1,000,000 to supplement $200,000 which has been committed by private donors from the Middle East.
Partner Opportunities:  Interested parties are invited to become partners in the Global Media Project, dedicated to furthering appreciation of the media – arguably the most powerful force in today’s global village. Through the program’s training, young students from around the world will be engaged in an intense internship experience with major media companies in Los Angeles, as well as dialoguing with industry leaders in this 12 week summer experience. In this program, students, will not only experience the day-to-day decision making of how news and entertainment is made, produced and marketed, they also will be asked to make their own documentaries on a topic of interest. The finished product will be premiered as part of the final program with constructive criticism from some of Hollywood’s most gifted artists. A fundamental objective of this experience is to train leaders on the use of the media and how they need to be actively engaged in constructing meaningful cultural narratives. The hope is to develop, from this experience, working papers on media and journalism, and potentially, on a global media code of ethics and standards.

The Global Health Council pledges to serve the members of the Clinton Global Initiative and beyond as a channel to civil society organizations working on the frontlines of basic healthcare and advocacy in the world’s poorest nations.
Partner Opportunities:  The Global Health Council is continuously seeking additional support to fund trips which provide the opportunity to see firsthand the global health programs that are working to improve the health of some of the poorest and sickest residents of South Africa. Past experience has shown that such trips are the most effective tool in educating others about the realities and possibilities of global health programs. The GIFT Young Leaders Program is a climate change young leadership program in Asia to promote ways in which practical frameworks for sustainable development and interdependence can be demonstrated. This will be done by bringing young business leaders and policy makers together in Asia to agree on such challenges of climate change as promoting renewable energy, forestry and conservation, and stimulating technical innovation.

The Global Process Institute is developing a Trauma Healing Training Center in cooperation with Africa University Zimbabwe. The Center will provide psychological skills training for trauma workers to meet the needs of victims of conflict and gender violence, in addition to clinical, educational, and research services to African NGOs and trauma healers.
Partner Opportunities:  The Global Process Institute and its partners commit to develop a Trauma Healing Training Centre to provide clinical, educational, and research services to African NGOs and trauma healers. The center’s clinic will treat men, women, children, and communities for psychological trauma; provide basic treatment and counseling to participants affected by HIV/AIDS; and support conflict and gender violence victims in a culturally sensitive and adaptive setting. The Center responds to the increasing need for resources among African communities impacted by violent conflict. As international focus on the psycho-social effects of war on civilian populations grows, our proposal seeks to marshal the resources and energies of individuals and organizations to provide healing for the afflicted and break the cycle of generational violence.

The Community Productivity Project (CPP) aims to reduce poverty through inclusive economic development. The project will document how productive low-income people are, how hard they work, how much value they create, and the close relationships of their economic activities to the formal economic system in order to design and implement inclusive economic development strategies in low-income communities.
Partner Opportunities:  The Community Productivity Project welcomes any additional partnerships from other companies, organizations, investors, suppliers, and volunteers, to meet its target funding needs of $6 million.

The Grameen Foundation USA’s Growth Guarantees Program, a joint initiative of the Grameen Foundation USA (GFUSA) and Citigroup, will be launched as a new global, innovative financing tool to accelerate the growth of microfinance. The fund is anticipated to reach $50 million and is designed to generate up to $300 million in local currency funding to support the microfinance industry’s service to the poor.
Partner Opportunities:  The next fundraising strategy for GFUSA’s Growth Guarantees Program (beginning in mid-2006), will focus on US-based, high net worth individuals making minimum commitments of $2-3 million. Referrals of potential prospects for the $19 million second round, and others to support GFUSA’s innovative capital markets program are welcome.

The Solar Electric Light Fund (SELF) will take a leading role in raising the $300,000 needed to complete phase II of the solar-electrification of Derijat, a Bedouin village located in the Negev desert of Israel. SELF will assist the Negev Development Authority in implementing all aspects of the project including design, installation, training and sustainability measures.

The SolarBank Program, developed by Solar International Management, commits to raise $4 million over the next two years to help overcome poverty by scaling up electrification to all homes in the world, through the application of new solar energy technology.
